FORMER FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS SENTENCED

Tallahassee, Florida – United States Attorney Gregory R. Miller, Northern District of Florida, announced today that former federal correctional officers GREGORY DIXON and ALAN MOORE were sentenced on January 10, 2007, following their convictions at a trial which ended November 3, 2006.

DIXON was found guilty of conspiracy to accept illegal gratuities and three counts of bribery. DIXON was sentenced to 12 months incarceration, followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine and to pay a $400 special monetary assessment. DIXON volunteered to begin his sentence immediately and was remanded to custody of the United States Marshals.

MOORE was found guilty of conspiracy to accept illegal gratuities and tampering with a witness. He was sentenced to 12 months incarceration, followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine and to pay a $200 special monetary assessment. MOORE was released on bond but was ordered to surrender on March 12, 2007 to begin serving his sentence.

The successful prosecution of DIXON and MOORE as well as co-defendants and former correctional officers ALFRED BARNES, VINCENT JOHNSON and LAVON SPENCE was the result of a investigation conducted by the Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institution’s Special Investigations Office, the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
