SOUTH FLORIDA MAN SENTENCED FOR ASSAULTING FLIGHT ATTENDANT Jacksonville, FL - United States District Judge Henry Lee Adams, Jr., today sentenced a South Florida man to four months in federal prison for assaulting and intimidating flight attendants. The incident occurred June 11, 2007, on Southwest Airlines flight 1590, which landed in Jacksonville, Florida, en route to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. John Michael Moody, II, age 44, is from Wilton Manors in south Florida. Moody, an attorney, had been indicted previously by a federal grand jury in Jacksonville, Florida. He pleaded guilty on April 14, 2008. In addition to the prison term, Moody was ordered to undergo drug testing and mental health treatment over a two-year term of supervised release. According to court records, Moody assaulted and intimidated a flight attendant while the aircraft was in flight by making advances toward and improperly touching the flight attendant. He also lifted a small child overhead and shook the child while the aircraft was in flight. Moody also repeatedly interfered with routine duties of all of the flight attendants. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Jacksonville Office and the Jacksonville Federal Air Marshals Service. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dale R. Campion.
