St. Johns County Commissioner Tom Manuel Pleads Guilty to Bribery

JACKSONVILLE, FL—United States Attorney A. Brian Albritton announces that Thomas G. Manuel (age 63, of St. Johns County) today pleaded guilty to one count of bribery. Manuel faces a maximum penalty of ten years in federal prison.

According to the plea agreement, Thomas G. Manuel, while serving on the St. Johns County Commission, accepted $10,000 and $50,000, intending to be influenced and rewarded in connection with business of the St. Johns County Commission involving something of value of $5,000 or more.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Julie Hackenberry Savell.
