North Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force
In the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Jacksonville Division formed the North Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force (NFJTTF), which was formally established in February 2002. The NFJTTF is a fully functioning team of criminal investigators and intelligence professionals from numerous federal, state, and local agencies. Among the federal agencies participating are the U. S. Coast Guard; Naval Criminal Investigative Service; Defense Criminal Investigative Service; Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (BICE); Central Intelligence Agency; Internal Revenue Service; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The NFJTTF also has participants from state and local agencies, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE); the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office; and the Clay, St. John's, and Marion County Sheriff's Offices. Additionally, by order of Florida Governor Jeb Bush, FDLE established seven regional Domestic Security Task Forces (DSTF), which correspond to the regions of the FDLE. Three such regions (and thus three DSTFs) are located within the Jacksonville Division's territory.
